UW Health: UW Hospital names chief operating officer

MADISON – Tim Gaillard, who joined UW Health in July 2010, has been appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer of UW Hospital and Clinics. He succeeds Ronald Sliwinski, who was recently named chief executive officer.

Gaillard had been the hospital’s vice president for professional services. In his new role, he will oversee pharmacy, radiology, clinical laboratories, orthopedic, oncology, radiation oncology and neurology and neurosurgery service lines. In addition, the heart-vascular and thoracic and transplant service lines will now also report to him.

Before coming to UW, Gaillard served for more than five years as associate director and chief administrative officer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was responsible for their Comprehensive Cancer Center and served as interim executive director of the UI Children’s Hospital for two years.

Gaillard received his bachelor of science degree in hotel, restaurant and tourism from the University of South Carolina, Columbia and he began his career in hotel management. He earned a master’s of science in business administration from Boston University and his master’s in health administration from the University of South Carolina. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.

Gaillard is also a board member of the Madison Region Economic Partnership. He lives in Verona with his wife Pam. They are the parents of four daughters.

His appointment is effective immediately.
