Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts: Exhibit featuring local artists opens Thursday

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA), with its two-level art gallery in downtown Fond du Lac,

will open its first 2014 Membership Exhibition.

This juried exhibit was open to any member of THELMA, Fond du Lac Visual Artists, Fond du Lac

Artists’ Association and Sheboygan Visual Artists. Of the 43 submissions, 20 pieces were chosen.

“I hope our community comes and experiences this exhibit, leaving reality at the revolving door, along

with taking in the beauty of THELMA,” said Colleen Chertos, one of the local artists who has a piece

in the exhibit.

The exhibit will be open from May 8 through June 22 with a free reception from 5 to 8 pm, May 8 in

THELMA’s stunning new two-level Contemporary Wing.

Every person who comes through the exhibit will be able to vote for their favorite piece. Viewer’s

Choice awards for the exhibit will be announced at a celebration of local arts events being planned for

June 12 at THELMA.

Jurors were Brandon Bauer, assistant professor of art at St. Norbert College, Shane McAdams,

adjunct professor of art at Marian University and Andrew Redington, assistant professor and gallery

director at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh

THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts and

Entertainment District.

THELMA is a member-based, privately-funded non-profit dedicated to providing experiences

not readily available in the area. Intimate concerts in the Great Hall, street concerts with major

performers, indoor and outdoor films, and art from world-renowned artists are available at THELMA.

THELMA also offers a stunning backdrop for weddings, meetings and all social and corporate

gatherings.
