DE PERE, WIS.: The mission each year is clear: learn how to run a business and raise money for charity. That’s what Discoveries International is all about. The nonprofit store is operated by St. Norbert College international business majors and is dedicated to importing fair-trade products primarily from developing nations. Proceeds received from the sale of these goods are reinvested in developing countries through charitable donation. This year, money raised will go to the Seven Loaves Project.

The Seven Loaves Project is a small charity based in Green Bay, Wis. When J.R. Schoenfeld of Chives Restaurant traveled to Rwanda, he was confronted with a country still recovering from a terrible genocide. Schoenfeld was so inspired to bring hope to Rwanda in the form of bread, he and his team traveled to Rwanda to install ovens and provide resources and training. Schoenfeld also wanted to create a sustainable lifestyle for villagers.

Discoveries International, located next to the St. Norbert College Bookstore, Todd Wehr Hall, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed on Sundays.
