ELKHART LAKE, Wis., November 19, 2014 – Road America announced today a continuation of its multi-year partnership with West Bend Mutual Insurance Company as its official insurance provider for the Road America Teen Driving School. Road America’s Teen Driving School provides teens with the skills they really need to know, including awareness of surroundings, active driving skills to develop driver confidence, and the proper foundation to being a safer driver which could someday save their lives or the lives of others. The partnership allows West Bend policyholders to receive valuable discounts when enrolling their teens in the Road America Teen Driving School. Parents are also encouraged to participate with their teen drivers.
“We are very pleased that West Bend chose to stay with Road America as a partner for 2015 and beyond,” said Michael Kertscher, programs manager for Road America. “For one of the most well-known insurance companies in Wisconsin to provide continued support in our mission of making teens better and safer daily drivers proves that the curriculum works, and we are very proud to have them as part of our family of local sponsors who believe in giving back to the community.”
Road America’s Teen Driving School provides inexperienced teenage drivers with the necessary skills to succeed at accident avoidance by practicing emergency driving situations in a safe and controlled environment. In the classroom, teens will learn the physics and dynamics of good driving, including collision avoidance and skid control. Teens will apply their classroom knowledge through hands-on driving activities, including braking, emergency lane change, and skid car drills which simulate driving in weather conditions such as ice, snow, and rain in a safe, off-street environment.
Road America’s Driving and Motorcycle schools provide professional driving and riding instruction to drivers and motorcyclists of all skill levels. Programs vary from teen schools to high-performance driving and winter driving programs on the automobile side, all the way to basic, experienced, dirt, and supermoto riding programs on the motorcycle side. Students enjoy classroom sessions, skill drills, and expert private instruction. Students participating in the high-performance driving school use their own street-legal cars. A current schedule of courses is available online at www.roadamerica.com or by calling Road America, 800-365-7223.
