MILWAUKEE, WI (November 11, 2014) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that partners Michael Gonring and Michael Ostermeyer, have been honored as Wisconsin Legal Innovators by The State Bar of Wisconsin.

Michael Gonring is a partner of the firm’s Product Liability Practice Group and practices out of the Milwaukee office.

Gonring was recognized for his work developing the Mobile Legal Clinic, a partnership between The Milwaukee Justice Center and Marquette University Law School, his alma mater. The clinic, which began operation in September of 2013 and was funded by retired Quarles & Brady partners Julie Ebert and Frank Daily, takes the Justice Center out to those who cannot afford to retain legal counsel and are unable to travel to the Justice Center itself, in the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

“I’m happy to be a part of this innovation,” said Gonring. “The justice gap between those who can afford legal counsel and those who cannot is large, and the Mobile Legal Clinic helps to close that gap.”

Gonring earned his law degree and his bachelor’s degree from Marquette. He served as Quarles & Brady’s national pro bono coordinator from 1999 to 2014.

Michael Ostermeyer is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group and practices out of the Milwaukee office.

The Partner Development Program was designed to (1) significantly increase partners’ ability to think both strategically and tactically, (2) improve problem-solving skills with a combination of qualitative and quantitative tools and business models, and (3) provide critical perspectives in the key elements of a graduate business curriculum.

“We think that the Partner Development Program is an important element in expressing our strategic aim to reach the leading edge of client service among our corporate firm competitors, and we’re honored that the State Bar has recognized this effort as an exceptional example of legal innovation,” said Ostermeyer.

Ostermeyer earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, his M.B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame – Mendoza College of Business, his master’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, and his bachelor’s degree from Luther College.

Gonring and Ostermeyer will be featured in the November 2014 issue of Wisconsin Lawyer.
