MADISON, Wisc. (June 23, 2014) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Sarah C. Walkenhorst, an associate in the firm’s Madison, WI office, has been voted president-elect of the Dane County Bar Association (DCBA). Walkenhorst’s term as president-elect became effective June 1, 2014 and her term as president will begin on June 1, 2015.
Walkenhorst has held a number of committee positions within the DCBA: Board of Directors (2011-present); Communications Committee (Co-Chair, 2013 – present); Web Presence Committee (Chair, 2011 – 2013); Delivery of Legal Services Committee (Member, 2010 – present); and the Courthouse Committee (Member, 2010 – present). Through the DCBA, Walkenhorst also participates in the Small Claims Assistance Program (SCAP), a walk-in clinic for self-represented parties staffed by volunteer attorneys and paralegals who provide assistance with small claims court procedures and other services.
An associate in Perkins Coie’s Patent Litigation and Intellectual Properties practices, Walkenhorst earned her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif) where she was a Symposium Editor and Articles Editor for the Wisconsin Law Review. She is a recipient of the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association’s “Pro Bono Award” (2004-2005, 2010-2011) and was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Wisconsin Super Lawyers (2007, 2011).
The DCBA, founded in 1858, is one of the oldest bar organizations in Wisconsin. It encourages social and professional fellowship among its members to improve the quality and reputation of the bar.
