Madison Opera’s: “Dead Man Walking” and press gathering

Madison Opera will be presenting Jake Heggie’s contemporary American opera Dead Man Walking on April 25 & 27, 2014. The opera is based on the book of the same name by Sister Helen Prejean, which inspired the film starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn.

Both Jake Heggie and Sister Helen will be in Madison for opening night and will speak at First Congregational Church on April 24, as part of our Extending the Stage programme. You can find more information about Extending the Stage in the attached PDF, which features several events presented with our community partners, ranging from panels to previews, films to museum tours, and more.

I will be releasing a press release for Dead Man Walking this month, but do to the keen interest expressed about this undertaking, I and Kathryn Smith, General Director of Madison Opera, would like to invite all interested press membersfor a Q&A about Extending the Stage and Dead Man Walking on Tuesday, February 25th at 10am at the Madison Opera Center. This will be a prime opportunity to ask questions about the Extending the Stage programme, learn more about Mr. Heggie’s and Sister Helen’s in-town schedule and press availability, and request interviews.

If you would like to attend the press Q&A, please RSVP to me no later than next Wednesday, 19th February.

Thanks, and I sincerely hope you will attend the Q&A—we’re very excited about the opera and our Extending the Stage programme!
