LaClare Farms to Celebrate June Dairy Month with Alice in Dairyland and Cheese Pairing Events

PIPE, Wis. – LaClare Farms will celebrate June Dairy Month by hosting a series of special events including a June 1 appearance with Alice in Dairyland, a June 19 dinner, and a stellar line-up of wine, beer and cheese pairings at its new farmstead dairy facility.

On Sunday, June 1 from noon to 3 p.m., Alice in Dairyland will make a special appearance at LaClare Farms, located at W2994 County Road HH, east of the intersection of Highway 151 in Pipe, Wis. At 1:30 p.m., the public is invited to a presentation by Alice in Dairyland and cheese carver Troy Landwehr, as he creates a unique carving featuring LaClare Farms cheese. Wine from Kerrigan Brothers Winery will also be featured.

In addition to the June 1 event, LaClare Farms will host a special dinner on June 19 and four Saturday cheese, wine and beer tastings, open to the public and featuring Wisconsin products. All pairings run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are free. Events include:

• June 7: Red Barn Cheese and Stevens Point Brewery beer pairings

• June 14: Sartori Cheese and Wollersheim Winery and Cedar Creek Winery pairings

• June 19: LaClare Farms Dinner featuring farmstead cheeses. Details to be announced.

• June 21: Pine River Cheese and Von Stiehl Winery pairings

• June 28: Widmer Cheese Cellars and Quinney Estate Winery pairings

LaClare Farms is a state-of-the-art facility including a dairy plant, retail store and café, as well as a milking parlor where the public can view daily milking of dairy goats. Owned by Larry and Clara Hedrich and their family, the farmstead dairy plant is home to the 2011 U.S. Champion Cheese, Evalon, crafted by Champion Cheesemaker Katie Hedrich Furhmann.

The public is always invited to visit LaClare Farms from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and view 4:30 p.m. daily milkings, as well as view morning cheesemaking operations. The facility’s café features a locally prepared seasonal menu for lunch and dinner. The farmstead’s Retail Shoppe also features a variety of farmstead artisan cheeses, beer and wine along with other products locally produced.
