MADISON, WI (May 12, 2014) – Today marks the kick-off of National Small Business Week 2014 (May 12- 16). Focus on Energy, Wisconsin utilities’ statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, is celebrating the impact of its Small Business Program. The program helps Wisconsin’s small businesses save energy and money by installing energy-efficient equipment and controls.

Since its launch in July 2012, Focus on Energy’s Small Business Program has saved Wisconsin businesses more than 118,300,000 kilowatt-hours. That represents a savings of more than $13,000,000 for Wisconsin small businesses. To date, the program has installed more than 64,000 energy-saving measures in 8,100 businesses.

Wisconsin businesses such as retail shops, taverns, non-franchise restaurants, churches, private schools and offices have taken advantage of the program’s free energy assessment, as well as the installation of energy efficiency measures.

The Small Business Program is now in its third year of helping commercial customers save energy by making energy efficiency upgrades. Commercial customers with an average monthly electricity demand of 100 kW or less are eligible for the installation of measures such as interior and exterior LED lighting, T12 to T8 fluorescent lighting retrofits, high bay fixtures, and other efficiency measures.

“Small businesses have a great opportunity to save energy and reduce their utility bill by participating in this program,” said Nathan Baer, Small Business Program Manager for Focus on Energy. “We make it easy for businesses to participate. They work with certified Focus on Energy Trade Allies [contractors] in their community to complete an energy assessment and install the upgrades.”

To schedule a free energy assessment for your business, church, private school or non-profit organization, call Focus on Energy at 877.229.6678 or visit focusonenergy.com/smallbusiness for more information.
