APPLETON/FOX CITIES, WI — The Community Blood Center Partners with The Wisconsin Timber Rattles for World Blood Donor Day Celebration
Every year, on June 14, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The occasion raises awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, thanks voluntary blood donors for their lifesaving gifts of blood, and underlines the importance of regular donation to prevent blood shortages.

“World Blood Donor Day comes at a very important time each year,” said John Hagins, Community Blood Center President/CEO. “Summer can be a challenging time for blood donations, with fewer donors available to donate blood due to busy summer schedules. World Blood Donor Day gives us an opportunity to highlight the need for blood during the summer months and year-round.” Hagins added that it’s a perfect time for donors to help save lives and boost the blood supply for patients in need.

A special reception and pre-celebration of World Blood Donor Day will be held at The Timber Rattlers Stadium on Tuesday, June 10 in Appleton from 5:30-7pm featuring raffles, giveaways and blood mobile tours. Attendees of the evening’s baseball game are encouraged to wear red and be part of a giant human blood drop to be formed on the field at 6:30pm.

“We are very excited to partner with the Community Blood Center to promote World Blood Donor Day. The Community Blood Center is so vital to our community and we hope this event helps spread the word about the need to continue to donate blood during the summer months,” said Rob Zerjav, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers President.

The Community Blood Center encourages all eligible donors to choose their day to help save lives by giving blood in honor of World Blood Donor Day. To learn more and make an appointment to donate blood, visit www.communityblood.org or call (920) 738-3131.
