Presenting Sponsor Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Grows along with Fight for Air Climb
Milwaukee Climb is now the Largest Lung Association Climb in the Nation

Brookfield, WI — Consistent partner support is a key ingredient to any successful event. The American Lung Association’sFight for Air Climb in Milwaukee, now the largest of its kind in the nation, owes much of its success to the consistent support received from Presenting Sponsor, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Linda Witucki, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Wisconsin says, “Anthem has been our “rock star” since the very first Climb, contributing to the event in so many ways, including bringing a large corporate team that raises money and climbs every year. Their enthusiasm alone contributes an energy to the event that spurs on even the most doubtful Climber.”

Anthem’s support has helped the Climb grow from a first year event with 500 participants raising $125,000 to a 2013 attendance of 2600 and an increase of almost 450% in revenues.

Anthem also sponsors one of the most popular parts of the Climb, the Firefighter Challenge. Every year teams of firefighters from all over the state climb in full gear (50 – 75 lbs.) in a competition to see which team can score the overall fastest time.

The Fight for Air Climb is a natural fit for Anthem. With a commitment to whole body wellness, Anthem supports programs and activities that encourage active living, healthy eating habits and smoking cessation. “Getting regular exercise and not smoking are two of the most important things you can do for your health. The American Lung Association can help you do both,” said Dr. Michael Jaeger, managing medical director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin and Chair of the Lung Association’s Wisconsin Leadership Board. “By participating in the Fight for Air Climb you can not only keep your New Year’s resolution on track, but also help others by raising money to support smoking cessation programs and fight lung disease.”

The 2014 Climb takes place on March 22 at the US Bank Center in Milwaukee. Registration and information are available at http://action.lung.org/site/TR/Climb/ALAUM_Upper_Midwest?fr_id=8310&pg=entry or by calling 262-703-4200.
