Alliant Energy’s Aller Announces Retirement
Board names environmental VP, Iowa native, Kopp to lead Iowa utility

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – February 11, 2014 – Thomas Aller, President of Alliant Energy’s Iowa and Minnesota utility and Alliant Energy Corporation’s Senior Vice President of Operations Support, today announced that he will retire this spring. The Board of Directors accepted his retirement and named Douglas Kopp as Senior Vice President of Alliant Energy Corporation, effective March 1, and President of the Iowa and Minnesota utility operation effective April 1.

Aller has been with Alliant Energy for more than 20 years, starting work for predecessor IES in 1993. Prior to that time he oversaw significant business and industrial growth in the Cedar Rapids – Marion metro area while working for the City of Cedar Rapids and 2001 Development Corporation. His contributions span the entire state of Iowa through service on the boards of the Iowa Business Council, Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa Utility Association.

“It’s impossible to calculate the positive impact that Tom has had on Cedar Rapids and the state of Iowa,” said Patricia Kampling, Chairman, President and CEO of Alliant Energy Corporation. “We’re also indebted to him for his work within our company and the dedication he’s shown in serving our customers during his time as President of our Iowa and Minnesota utility. He will be missed.”

Douglas Kopp’s industry experience spans more than 30 years, including 20 with Alliant Energy, starting with predecessor Iowa Southern Utilities. Kopp brings significant experience from a diverse number of roles, including economic development, customer service, regulatory pricing, generation and environmental affairs. Kopp has led the company’s environmental efforts since 2011.

“It’s great to bring Doug’s leadership into this role,” noted Kampling. “His experience in nearly every part of the utility business will serve him well as he oversees all aspects of our Iowa utility. In recent years, his focus has been on our environmental efforts. He’ll bring that solid understanding of and commitment to environmental issues as he takes the lead in serving our customers in Iowa.”

“It has been a wonderful experience to lead this group of employees, and I’ll miss the interactions with our customers,” said Aller. “I leave very proud of what our company does to make our customers’ lives better every day. The organization is in good hands with both Doug and Pat. It’s been a privilege to serve our customers in Iowa and southern Minnesota.”

“I look forward to working with our great employees to support the customers and communities we serve,” added Kopp.
