Area nonprofits receive $23,000 in grants

Awards from the Alliant Energy Foundation help fund community projects

MADISON, Wis. – December 30, 2014 – Nine area nonprofit organizations are receiving community grants totaling $31,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation in its third and final 2014 giving cycle. The grants bring the year-to-date total given in the area to more than $140,000.

Among those earning grants from the Alliant Energy Foundation are:

· Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, $5,000 for Power Hour Homeroom

· Goodman Community Center Inc., $2,500 for STEM After School Program

· South Central Library System Foundation Inc., $2,500 for Full STEAM Ahead: Public Library Science Programs

· Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, $2,000 for its Field Trip Program.

Also receiving grants are: Dance Wisconsin, Girls on the Run of Dane County Inc., Sand County Foundation, the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Inc. and the Wisconsin History Foundation.

The Alliant Energy Foundation is a philanthropic organization created by Alliant Energy Corporation and is operated as a separate entity led by its own board of directors. The Foundation is committed to making a positive difference in the communities where Alliant Energy employees, retirees and customers live and work. The Foundation, which is funded solely by Alliant Energy shareowners, seeks to further the corporation’s goal of being a good corporate citizen and contributing member of society.
