MADISON, Wis. – Agrace today announced that it has hired Alia Dayne as diversity coordinator. Agrace is a nonprofit palliative care and hospice agency that has provided end-of-life care and related services to people in southern Wisconsin communities for more than 35 years.

As diversity coordinator, Dayne will work to implement strategies for Agrace to improve access to diverse and underserved patients and assist the agency in ensuring that the staff and volunteer workforce reflects the diversity of the communities served by Agrace. Dayne will also provide educational opportunities in order to increase cultural competence throughout the agency.

Dayne joins Agrace from Madison Media Institute, a Madison-based Media Arts College, where she was life management coordinator. Dayne’s career includes experience in creating diversity action plans, providing diversity training and conducting research on diverse recruitment and retention strategies. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

“Alia brings to the diversity coordinator role a passion for engaging diverse populations, making sure we understand their needs, and modifying our approach and services accordingly,” said Julia Houck, chief administrative officer for Agrace. “In this role, Alia will help drive Agrace’s efforts to address the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities that impact access to hospice and palliative care in the communities we serve.”
