MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce announced Tuesday that Capitol veteran Chris Reader has joined the business association to lobby on health care and employment laws.

“I am pleased to announce the addition of Chris Reader as WMC’s Health Care and Human Resources Policy Director,” said Scott Manley, WMC vice president of government relations.

WMC is the state’s chamber of commerce and largest business association.

“Chris joins our government relations team with significant experience in the Legislature and state government, and will be our point person lobbying on healthcare, employment laws, labor and education,” Manley said.

Prior to joining WMC, Chris served as Chief of Staff for Senator Rich Zipperer, and as a field director for U.S. Congressman Mark Green’s campaign. For the past six months, he served as Administrator of the Telecommunications Division at the Public Service Commission.

Manley said Reader played a leading role in crafting historic lawsuit reform that passed the Legislature in 2011 while working in Senator Zipperer’s office.

“Chris has a demonstrated ability to successfully guide bills through the legislative process,” Manley said. “Chris understands the needs of Wisconsin businesses, and will be a strong advocate for employers.”

Reader is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, with a degree in political science and public administration.

Reader staffed the powerful Joint Finance Committee. Prior to working in the Senate, Reader worked in the state Assembly.

“At WMC we are committed to improving our state’s business climate, and Chris Reader is dedicated to making Wisconsin the best state in the nation for business,” Manley said.
