Wisconsin Specialty Cheese Institute: Elects new officers and board directors

DELAVAN, Wis. – The Wisconsin Specialty Cheese Institute has named new officers and elected a new member to its board of directors.

Elected to a one-year term as president is Kay Schmitz, of Henning Cheese. Elected secretary/treasurer for a one-year term is Shirley Knox of Maple Leaf Cheese. Beth Crave, of Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese, was elected as a new member to the board. Board members Samantha Forster, of Aladdin Label; Todd Martin, Johnson Industries, and Bill Stuart, Alpine Slicing and Conversion, were all re-elected to second terms.

Rounding out the organization’s board of directors are: Jeanne Carpenter, Wisconsin Cheese Originals; Robert Ehrenberg, Taylor Cheese; and Cathy Hart, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.

The Wisconsin Specialty Cheese Institute works to promote and support the development of a robust and profitable specialty cheese industry in the state. It consists of more than 120 specialty cheesemaker, marketer and supplier members. The membership meets six times a year to network, gain industry knowledge and training from guest speakers, and learn from each other via touring member facilities.

Members also gather at the Institute’s popular annual golf outing, set this year for June 13 at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona.
