Milwaukee, Wis. – This morning the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce received the Excellence in Community Impact Award at the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)’s 2013 National Business & Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas.

“It was an honor to be presented with the Excellence in Community Impact Award at this year’s National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce conference,” said Jason Rae, executive director of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce. “This award is a testament to our work in engaging leaders and organizations around the state as we build Wisconsin’s LGBT business community. We know the importance of collaboration with organizations all across Wisconsin, and the fact that we were able to earn this award within our first year of formation is an enormous honor.”

The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce was only one of five Chambers from around the country to be presented with an award during the awards program at this year’s conference. A full list of award winners is available here.

NGLCC recognized the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce for nurturing strong relationships with local city chambers and business districts, as well as engaging with the Coalition for Ethnical Diverse Chambers of Commerce in Milwaukee. The Chamber has also built strong partnerships with philanthropic and non-profit groups, such as the Cream City Foundation. By building coalitions within Wisconsin, they have rejuvenated the LGBT business community.

“NGLCC affiliate chambers like the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce are leveraging every possible opportunity for businesses to grow and become strong engines that drive local economies,” said Sam McClure, NGLCC Director of Affiliate Relations and External Affairs. “This new chamber came out of the gate very strong and we are very glad to be their national partner.”
