Wisconsin Family Business Forum welcomes two new members

UW Oshkosh, Dec. 17 — The Wisconsin Family Business Forum (WFBF), based within the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s College of Business, welcomes two new members:

Jay Manufacturing Oshkosh, Inc.

Founded in 1955, Jay Manufacturing Oshkosh, Inc. is a 3rd generation family business. Today Jay Manufacturing Oshkosh, Inc. is a premier full-service metal fabricator, serving clients in more than 50 distinct industries throughout the United States including several Fortune 500 companies. The company has two modern facilities that encompass more than 120,000 square feet of productive space and employs nearly 100 individuals operating three shifts, seven days a week.

In addition to “traditional” fabrication services, Jay also offers 3-D laser cutting and unrivaled welding services, including certified Nav Sea Tech Pub 248/271 operations. A full array of weld testing services are also offered, conducted by three in-house CWI’s for OEM’s and other fabricators, including Weld PQR & Welder Qualification Testing-Guided Bend Tests-Tensile Pulls and Macro Etching.

They are a full service metal fabricator – ISO 9001:2008 Registered – Veteran-owned small business. They offer production and prototype, solutions for purchasing agents, and short lead times with rapid turnaround.

Merrill Iron & Steel, Inc.

Founded in 1962, Merrill Iron & Steel, Inc. (MIS) is a third-generation family business. In 1962, Roger W. Hinner purchased a 5,000 square foot foundry located in what was known as “Tannery Town” in Merrill, WI. Merrill Iron & Steel’s primary business was the fabrication of steel bulk storage bins for the local farming community.

Today, under the continued direction of Roger E. Hinner, and with experienced, trained team members at all levels of the organization, Merrill Iron & Steel primarily serves a large-scale, diverse customer base, assists with LEED certification goals where needed and maintains a particular pulse on the emerging needs of the Power & Energy industry with fully integrated engineering, detailing, project management, fabrication, delivery and erection services.

With over 500,000 square feet of combined fabrication and production space in the US, precision design and sophisticated fabrication equipment—all coordinated by the company’s committed, highly skilled workforce—MIS has established itself as a leading, massive scale steel fabricator, meeting the needs of a diverse customer base.
