MADISON – November 8, 2013 – The law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. (WHD) is pleased to announce the addition of Stephen J. Lyons to its Government Affairs Team and Corporate & Finance Practice Group.
Lyons is a Government Affairs Advisor in the Madison office of WHD who has nearly 20 years of experience in government affairs and public relations, including eight years as the Chief Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald.
Lyons has served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Wisconsin; Chief Policy Advisor to a State Senator; Chief of Staff to a Republican Assembly Minority Leader; Executive Assistant to a Cabinet Secretary; an in-house expert on redistricting for the Wisconsin Assembly Republican Caucus; and the Clerk of the Senate Committee on Economic Development, Commerce, and Financial Institutions.
Lyons is an experienced strategic and political tactician with expertise in the implementation of legislative agendas for corporate and business clients. He has successfully led numerous government relations, public relations, grass roots, and media campaigns. Lyons has orchestrated broad support for positions for business clients, with expertise in the branding and messaging of legislative proposals.
Lyons has also crafted and implemented successful outreach campaigns and worked with many high ranking elected officials serving in the Wisconsin Legislature today. He has extensive background in serving as a liaison between the Legislature, Office of the Governor, and state agencies on behalf of clients. He is well versed in the areas of economic development, commerce, insurance, financial institutions, and a host of other business related issues. He has expertise in political, policy, and legislative dynamics.
He serves as president of the Wisconsin Growth Capital Coalition (WGCC), whose mission is to serve as the lobbying voice for Wisconsin’s emerging high growth economy and the companies and jobs it creates. Lyons is also member of the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives and Wisconsin School Public Relations Association.
Lyons earned his B.S. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
