(MILWAUKEE) — On Friday Voces de la Frontera will hold a press conference and rally at the Milwaukee Federal Building, asking why Senator Ron Johnson and the U.S. Senate missed the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) coalition’s deadline of March 21st to introduce a comprehensive immigration reform bill that contains a path to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented people in the US.

The rally is one of many similar actions to be held around the US organized by FIRM, the coalition of the largest immigrant rights groups in the country. Voces de la Frontera and our national allies will keep pressure on the House, Senate and President Obama during their Easter recess break with visits to their home congressional offices, town hall meetings, prayer vigils, protests and acts of civil disobedience.

“We will use the power we showed during last year’s election cycle to get a bill passed that includes a path to citizenship for all 11 million, and keeps families together,” said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director of Voces de la Frontera.

“Every day that passes, 1,100 people are separated from their families through deportation,” Neumann-Ortiz said. “That will amount to 20,000 families during Easter recess who are torn apart. Those families need relief now.”
