Trek: Welcome spring with today’s Madison B-cycle launch

Even in unpredictable weather, Madison can always count on B-cycle

(Madison, WI) – Today marks the first day of spring, and with it the return of the capital city’s iconic red B-cycle bikes. Join Mayor Paul Soglin and Trek President John Burke today, as they kick off the 2013 season of active transportation at 4:00pm on the steps of the Madison City-County building.

2013 holds many exciting enhancements to Madison’s B-cycle system, including a renewed commitment from the city and funding from Trek Bicycle to continue to develop the best bike sharing program in the country. In addition to several new locations throughout the city, some of the most popular stations will be enhanced to serve the system’s fast growing demand. With a 356% increase in annual memberships in 2012, Madison B-cycle is the fastest-growing B-cycle system in the United States.

The 2013 B-cycle season will see two new stations added to the system, including one at Madison’s new Central Library, with the high-usage John Nolen and Memorial Union stations expanding in size to accommodate higher traffic.

To celebrate the opening of the season, Trek is sponsoring free 30 minute trips from the March today’s opening through April 1. To take advantage of this great opportunity, just visit any Madison B-cycle kiosk for more information and a ride.
