MADISON, WI (November 25, 2013) – Stevens Construction Corp., one of the largest General Contractors in Wisconsin, was once again recognized with a prestigious construction industry award for the historical renovation of the Loyalty Building in downtown Milwaukee.

On Friday November 22, 2013, Engineering News Record Midwest honored Stevens Construction with the 2013 Midwest’s Best Projects Renovation/Restoration Award of Merit for the Hilton Garden Inn – Downtown Milwaukee project; at an awards breakfast in Chicago at the Crowne Plaza Chicago Metro.

The Hilton Garden Inn – Downtown Milwaukee is an exemplary renovation of the historic circa 1886 Loyalty Building into a vibrant, modern 127-room hotel. Owned by Illinois-based First Hospitality Group, the building is one of Milwaukee’s architectural treasures and original headquarters of Northwestern Mutual Life. The one-year transformation of the Loyalty Building included careful preservation of unique features such as bank vault doors, wood paneling, tile flooring, ornamental plaster ceilings, marble and bronze staircase and atrium skylights. Designed by Kahler Slater of Milwaukee, the hotel opened in November 2012.

Since opening one year ago, the Hilton Garden Inn has been honored with numerous awards, including but not limited to : Daily Reporter Top Projects Award of 2012; Cream of the Cream City Historic Preservation Award 2013; Mayor’s Design Award 2013; Business Journal’s 2013 Real Estate Award; Frederick I. Olson Historic Preservation Award; 2013 Historic Restoration Award – Wisconsin Historical Society; Associated General Contractors 2013 Build Wisconsin Award – Design Build – Renovation; Hilton “WOW “Award.
