ELKHART LAKE, Wis. – In response to the increasing number of driving accidents and fatalities impacting teenagers, Road America has announced a multi-year partnership naming West Bend Mutual Insurance Company as its official insurance provider for the Road America Teen Driving School. Road America’s Teen Driving School provides teens with the skills they really need to know, including awareness of surroundings and active driving skills to develop driver confidence, as well as the proper foundation to being a safer driver, which could someday save their lives, or the lives of others.

“This is a way we can give back to our community and policyholders by helping them protect the newest drivers in their household,” says Scott Stueber, marketing service specialist for West Bend Mutual Insurance. “Ultimately, it’s about saving lives. Road America has an excellent program and we’re glad to be a partner. We are equally proud to offer tuition reimbursement to current customers, as well as to the general public. For a limited time, the cost of the course will be $50 for current West Bend customers and $80 for non-West Bend customers, so sign up your family and tell your friends today.”

Road America’s Teen Driving School provides inexperienced teenage drivers with the necessary skills to succeed at accident avoidance by practicing emergency driving situations in a safe and controlled environment. In the classroom, teens will learn the physics and dynamics of good driving, including collision avoidance and skid control. Teens will apply their classroom knowledge through hands-on driving activities including wet braking, emergency lane change, slalom, and skid car drills which simulate driving in weather conditions such as ice, snow, and rain in a safe, off-street environment.

“We’re pleased to welcome West Bend to Road America and partner with them in this capacity,” said Michael Kertscher, programs manager for Road America. “For one of the most well-known insurance companies in Wisconsin to embrace our mission of making teens better and safer daily drivers is testament to our program and our instructors, and we are very proud to have them on board.”

Road America’s driving and motorcycle schools provide professional driving and riding instruction to drivers and motorcyclists of all skill levels. Programs vary from teen schools to high-performance driving and winter driving programs on the automobile side, all the way to basic, experienced, dirt, and supermoto riding programs on the motorcycle side. Students enjoy classroom sessions, skill drills, and expert private instruction. Students participating in the driving school may use their own street-legal cars or one of The Road America Driving School (RADS) official cars. Parents are also encouraged to participate with their teen drivers if they choose. A current schedule of courses is available online at http://www.roadamerica.com or by calling Road America, 800-365-7223.
