Milwaukee effort will partner with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin

Milwaukee, Wis. (Oct. 7, 2013) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that its national corporate social responsibility program, called Quarles Cares, is launching a new anti-bullying initiative the week of October 7. All Milwaukee office efforts will be in conjunction with the firm’s client partner Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

The Quarles Cares program provides opportunities for the firm’s attorneys and staff to commit themselves personally to civic and charitable efforts as good corporate citizens, to make better the world around them. This new initiative provides the firm with an opportunity to partner with clients and provide financial support to anti-bullying organizations. The cause was selected by the firm’s new chair, Kimberly Leach Johnson, as part of her leadership legacy.

“Quarles & Brady is committed to leading by example in its Quarles Cares efforts during my tenure, and I’m particularly excited about this new initiative,” said Leach Johnson. “I believe an appreciation for fairness and justice develops at an early age, so it is important to me personally to help create a safe and cruelty-free environment in our schools.”

The Milwaukee Quarles & Brady office is partnering with Children’s Hospital to create anti-bullying volunteer opportunities, as well as raise funds for local anti-bullying efforts. Quarles attorneys and staff as well as Children’s Hospital school educator, nursing and e-learning teams will volunteer at the MPS Ben Franklin Elementary School Thursday, Oct. 10, to lead anti-bullying discussions and activities. Additionally, the firm is participating in Proclaimed Unity Day by the National Bullying Prevention Center by encouraging employees to donate $5 and wear orange to show support. All Milwaukee office donations will benefit Children’s Hospital and its Act Now! bullying prevention e-learning program.

“Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is excited to partner with Quarles & Brady on this initiative,” said Bridget Clementi, director of community health at Children’s Hospital. “Quarles & Brady’s dedication to the health and well-being of the Milwaukee community, especially when it comes to bullying prevention, aligns perfectly with our mission to achieve healthy outcomes for all children.”

Other efforts during the week focus on educating firm employees on bullying and its effects. The firm will offer an all-office video conference with R. Bradley Snyder, well known for his work with children, adolescents and young adults, and the author of “The 5 Simple Truths of Raising Kids.” That session will also be shared on quarles.com for the community’s benefit.

“Quarles Cares is not only a great way for our firm to get involved in the communities where we practice law, but it also builds employee morale,” said Ann Murphy, managing partner of the Milwaukee office. “Although each office normally chooses its own, local causes to support, the employees as a whole are excited to combine their efforts in support of this anti-bullying initiative.”
