TOMAHAWK, Wis. – The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded a $1,850 grant to Faith in Action of Adams County to fund a computer equipment upgrade that will expand current software and program administration capabilities.

Faith in Action of Adams County provides services to help elderly and physically or mentally challenged residents of Adams County remain independent in their own homes. Some of these services include providing transportation to medical appointments, taking residents to run errands like grocery shopping, preparing meals, light housekeeping, minor home repair and many other non-medical services that aim to create a supportive, friendly relationship between a care recipient and volunteer.

According the Gail Shultz, former program director, the organization currently uses an outdated laptop and desktop and shares one printer for all administrative and operational work for the program. In order to administrate services in a timely manner, Faith in Action is in need of a computer equipment and software upgrade.

“The number of care recipients served by Faith in Action of Adams County has more than doubled in the last three years,” said Schultz. “With the growing need of care in our community, it is imperative that we have updated computer equipment so that we can provide care to those in need quickly and efficiently.”

The organization will use the Plum Creek Foundation grant to purchase two new laptop computers, a printer and a wireless router. They will then transfer data, install updated software and set up a new network that will allow database access by more than one user. All of these steps will help the organization operate more efficiently.

The mission of Faith in Action of Adams County is to provide services for the elderly and physically or mentally challenged residents of Adams County to help them remain independent in their own homes. For more information visit www.faacwi.org.
