Appoints Garry Barnes as National Practice Director, Life Sciences
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (September 11, 2013) – Patina Solutions, the fast-growing professional services firm providing accomplished and proven professionals with 25+ years of experience on a flexible basis for key projects and engagements has expanded its Life Sciences Practice, including adding many life sciences executives to its Portfolio of Talent and appointing Garry Barnes as National Practice Director – bringing additional and valuable expertise to this critical area to help clients achieve their goals.

Working with all Patina Solutions offices (located in Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Boston, Tampa and Minneapolis), Barnes will be responsible for growing the company’s service offerings for a range of life science projects and engagements that require effective leadership and organizational skills, project strategy and implementation, coaching and mentoring and operational support. In addition, he will assist in building Patina Solutions’ roster of accomplished life science executives and managers ready to help clients. The Patina Life Sciences Practice will serve pharmaceutical, biotech, medical devices, diagnostic and retail and specialty pharmacy companies and support the needs of private equity and venture capital firms who have life science holdings.

Barnes has provided commercial and strategic leadership for many specialty life science companies including Ortho/Johnson and Johnson, Serono Laboratories and Fujisawa Healthcare (now known as Astellas, USA). Barnes has built and led numerous national sales and marketing organizations to record sales levels and market dominance and was recognized as a “Thought Leader in Specialty Sales” by Pharmaceutical Executive Magazine. As President and CEO of Sirius Laboratories, Barnes co-directed the turnaround and ultimate merger and acquisition by DUSA Pharmaceuticals. His extensive background also includes leadership roles in Medical Science Liaison, Product and Market Launch, Wholesale and Retail Trade Relations, Distribution and Managed Markets. As an entrepreneur and consultant in recent years, Barnes co-founded TriSentric, Inc., a consultancy firm offering commercial strategies for mature and/or under resourced pharmaceutical products. He is also co-founder and CEO of Xtera Biopharma, Inc. headquartered in Lenexa, Kan. Barnes received his BS/BA degree with a major in Marketing from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan.
