Milwaukee Film Festival: 100 local businesses come together to sponsor the 2013 Milwaukee Film Festival

Nearly 300 additional community partners also join in support of local event

MILWAUKEE – One hundred local businesses and nearly 300 community partners are joining together in support the fifth annual Milwaukee Film Festival, kicking off on Thursday, Sept. 26.

“Events like the Milwaukee Film Festival provide great opportunities for the city of Milwaukee, which is why many area businesses are proud and excited to support it,” said Steve Laughlin, CEO of Laughlin Constable – a 2013 Milwaukee Film Festival sponsor. “This event will bring in creative talent from all over the world, which in turn fosters the cultural backbone of the city, and ultimately benefits the entire community.”

Laughlin added that major events like the Milwaukee Film Festival play an important role in building and sustaining economic vibrancy by bringing people in to the city who will spend money locally, encouraging tourism and economic development, and promoting community involvement.

“The Milwaukee Film Festival is a great opportunity to showcase the city and its unique culture,” said Laughlin. “As local businesses, we see it as our responsibility to support events and opportunities that not only grow and sustain Milwaukee’s creative community, but its overall economy as well.”

The 100 sponsors of this year’s film fest represent a wide variety of local businesses, including private foundations, media, creative businesses and arts groups, restaurants, hotels and other service providers, educational institutions and more. Community partners include local non-profits, small businesses, student groups, community groups and more.

The 2013 Milwaukee Film Festival runs Sept. 26 – Oct. 10 and will feature 240 films on five screens throughout the city. The event is put on by Milwaukee Film, a nonprofit cultural organization that works to entertain, educate and empower the Milwaukee community.
