Madison, WI (October 16, 2013) – Michael Best partner, David A. Crass, will speak as a panelist at The Nelson Institute’s Community Environmental Forum on October 29, 2013. Crass will speak on The Sustainability of Irrigation in Wisconsin, “Wisconsin’s Groundwater Policies and Irrigation.”

The Nelson Institute Community Environmental Forum brings together speakers and audience members from all segments of the community such as businesses, state and local government, non-profit organizations, and academia, discuss pressing issues facing the environment in Wisconsin, Dane County, and Madison.

This Community Environmental Forum series will explore the science, geology, policy and law surrounding Wisconsin’s critical groundwater resource. Agricultural irrigation is expanding significantly in several regions of the state, even as concerns are increasing about its possible effects on water resources and the adequacy of regulatory oversight. This is heightening issues of competing demand among agricultural, commercial, recreational and property interests.

Crass serves as chair of Michael Best’s firm’s Agribusiness, Food Processing and Distribution Group, a leader in the firm’s Energy practice and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Crass has served as the Managing Partner of the firm’s Madison Office (2005-2008) and as chair of the firm’s Land and Resources Practice Group (2003-2005).
