PrePrint Facility Passes American Institute of Baking Audit Again

NEENAH, Wis. (July 2, 2013) – For the second year in a row, Menasha Packaging’s PrePrint facility in Neenah, Wis. has been recognized by the American Institute of Baking (AIB) after successfully completing its Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) audit.

The PrePrint facility recently underwent a full-day audit where it was evaluated based on the AIB standards for Food Contact Packaging Manufacturing Facilities. Not only is this a repeat accomplishment, the PrePrint facility also had year-over-year improvement on its audit by a score of ten points.

“We took what we learned from our first AIB audit in 2012 to further improve our policies and procedures, along with the aesthetics of the facility,” said Andrew Malecha, Quality/Lean Coordinator for Menasha Packaging. “Ongoing training is required for all levels of employees, and self-audits are conducted daily.”

Each year, the AIB revamps its rules and GMP criteria based on current federal guidelines and industry best practices. Passing the audit confirms that a facility has good manufacturing processes in place, and that it can provide clean, food-safe packaging products.

“Our customers want confidence that their suppliers have policies and procedures in place around food safety and quality,” said Mike Waite, President of Menasha Packaging. “With this recognition, our customers can rest assured that we are providing clean, safe products to them, and ultimately, to their customers.”

The AIB GMP audit specifically evaluates the following areas: Operational Methods and Personnel Practices, Maintenance for Food Safety, Cleaning Practices, Integrated Pest Management, and Adequacy of Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs.
