Neenah, Wis. Facility Surpasses One Year Without Recordable Injury
NEENAH, Wis. – Menasha Packaging is proud to announce that its PrePrint group has achieved an important safety milestone – 13 plus months without a recordable injury.
Leaders at the facility, which is located in Neenah, Wis., attribute the achievement to a proactive culture that has embraced safety, along with buy-in from all levels of employees.
“Our team takes safety very seriously, and is constantly trying to plan for the ‘what if’ before it happens,” says Roger VerVoort, General Manager of Menasha Packaging’s PrePrint group. “From fixing uneven cracks in sidewalks to purchasing a machine that can lift materials to help avoid back strains, we take proactive measures to make sure no one is injured on the job.”
PrePrint employees also actively participate in Menasha Packaging’s Safety Snags program. The program encourages employees to report anything that either is a safety issue or has the potential to become a problem. All Safety Snags are then investigated and addressed.
The program has proven to be successful. Menasha Packaging’s annual total recordable incident rate (per 100 employees per year) has dropped from 2.5 in 2010 to 2.34 in 2011, down further to 1.09 in 2012.
“We’ve created an environment of awareness by encouraging employees to spot and report potential hazards,” says VerVoort. “They know that when it comes to safety, no idea or suggestion is too small or will be ignored; everything is considered very diligently. It’s important that all team members stay healthy and protect each other.”
