Free presentation to help job-hunters, businesses use social network

MADISON, WIS., Sept. 10, 2013 — Madison Achievers Toastmasters will welcome speaker, author and consultant Wayne Breitbarth for his free presentation, “10 LinkedIn Steps to Your Next Great Job,” Wednesday, Oct. 23. The program will be held in the Peterson Room at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison. Networking will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the program promptly at 7 p.m.

“In today’s economy, competition for jobs is intense,” says Kristin S. Johnson, a resume writer, job search coach, and social media consultant, and a founding member of the chapter. “Wayne is the LinkedIn expert, not only for job-seekers, but for businesses wanting to use LinkedIn to expand their sales leads and contacts.”

Space is limited, and participants must be preregistered to attend. Spots can be reserved by going to www.eventbrite.com (go to “Find Events” at the top and search for “10 LinkedIn Steps”) by Oct. 9. Attendees are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the church pantry. Donations to help defray the costs of the program are also welcome.

LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) is a social networking website for people in professional occupations to keep in touch and build their careers. Job search experts say the network has become indispensable for job-seekers as well as businesses seeking job candidates or widening their sales base.

The author of “The Power Formula for LinkedIn Success: Kick-start Your Business, Brand, and Job Search,” Breitbarth is the CEO of Power Formula LLC. Autographed copies of his book will be available at a discount following his hour-long presentation. Based in Milwaukee, Breitbarth has shared his passion for social media with more than 40,000 business professionals nationwide.

A specialty chapter of Toastmasters International, Madison Achievers Toastmasters focuses on interviewing, leadership, and public speaking skills specifically for career advancement. The group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at Fire Station 6, 825 W. Badger Road.
