Partnering company, I:CO, helps Lands’ End create “closed loop” recycling program
DODGEVILLE, Wis., November 13, 2013 – As part of its commitment to continue “charting a course to sustainability”, Lands’ End announced it will be partnering with global textile recycling company I:Collect (I:CO) to collect used clothing and shoes at 12 retail locations starting November 13, 2013. The goal of I:CO is to continually reuse apparel and footwear items, or reprocess them into something else through recycling and upcycling worldwide.
“At Lands’ End we are always looking for ways to have a positive impact on the environment,” said Randy Peterson, Lands’ End senior director of engineering, corporate services and sustainability. “We know our customers are very interactive, so we hope together, by collecting used clothing and shoes at select retail locations, we can keep items out of the local landfills and make a difference.”
Customers Benefit from Participation
The pilot program with I:CO, which will run for three months, will reward customers who participate. Anybody who brings in at least one item will receive a $10 off coupon on their in-store purchase of $50 or more. In Madison, customers will find a collection box at the Prairie Towne store at 209 Junction Road. Customers are encouraged to bring in items from any brand, in any condition. Even if the item is beyond wearable, Lands’ End will gladly take it in hopes of having it processed into something else. Currently, I:CO reuses or recycles 98% of items received worldwide!
