Janesville Quaker Steak & Lube: Named New Restaurant of the Year

Quaker Steak & Lube Named New Restaurant of the Year

Janesville, WI. Few might realize it, but Janesville is home to an award winning restaurant. And the only reason few people realize it is the Janesville Quaker Steak & Lube, 3111 Wellington Pl, only opened on August 14th. But in that short time, it has already earned corporate recognition as the Quaker Steak & Lube New Restaurant of the Year.

In under 100 days, the restaurant had one of the best openings in QS&L’s entire history. It notched the company’s fifth highest opening of any location, besting large locales like Dallas, Cleveland and even Buffalo, NY, where its signature menu item gets its name.

The fact this occurred in Janesville is truly exceptional. While some might have written off the city as dying out, the success of Quaker Steak & Lube shows there’s life in Janesville. Scott Acker, the owner of the three Wisconsin-area Quaker Steak & Lube restaurants ensured the success of his Janesville location by supporting this very same community that supports it. The restaurants staff all come from the area and its “Make a Difference Mondays” donates five percent of proceeds to area charities like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rock, Walworth, and Jefferson County, Riverfront Inc., and Milton Soccer Club.

The original Quaker Steak & Lube was founded in 1974 and built in an abandoned gas station in Sharon, Pennsylvania as a cook-your-own steak restaurant. Today, The Lube® has won over 100 national and international awards for their wings and 26 different wing sauces, as well as serving award winning ribs. The Lube features unique décor items including Race Cars suspended from the ceilings, Motorcycles, Corvettes and Gas Station Memorabilia decorating the walls.
