Idle Free Systems: More than doubles sales, manufacturing space and employees in 2012 as fleets realize the value and power of its complete electric auxiliary power units

Madison, WI — Idle Free Systems, Inc., the manufacturer of electric idle elimination solutions for the commercial trucking industry and school buses, had a pivotal 2012. The company achieved 250% year-over-year growth in its Idle Free electric auxiliary power unit (APU) sales. To accommodate its growth, Idle Free doubled the size of its manufacturing facility and increased headcount by 30%.

With the expansion of its manufacturing space, Idle Free increased its full-scale production capacity by 100%. The new facility enables quick turnaround and just-in-time production to reduce time-to-market for its customers and dealers.

The growth precipitated additional staffing in critical departments such as materials planning and supply chain, field service, sales, warranty, as well as additional production and warehouse staff.

North American fleets seeking to control fuel costs, decrease their carbon footprint and increase profitability are the driving force behind Idle Free’s growth, with continued broad adoption of Idle Free’s Complete Electric APU Solution™.

Unique to the Idle Free electric APUs is its ability to be powered three ways: an independent battery bank, Shorepower and Reefer Link™, Idle Free’s proprietary, patented technology run by the reefer. Idle Free is the only APU on the market that can be powered by the reefer.

Regardless of power option, Idle Free CARB compliant and EPA SmartWay verified APUs provide air conditioning and heat; 120 volt electricity for televisions, computers, and other hotel needs; and keeps the truck engine warm when the engine is off.

Commenting on Idle Free’s growth and successes in 2012, CEO Robert Hopton said, “These milestone achievements are a testament to our investment in providing the highest quality APUs on the market today and in the future. Improvements in our operational efficiencies will strengthen our commitment to the trucking industry and fleets’ demands for our APU. The results in 2012 have solidified our competitive position in North America as an industry leader and innovator. We are well positioned for continued growth in 2013 and beyond.”
