Godfrey & Kahn Attorney John McDonald Named 2013 Up and Coming Lawyer by the Wisconsin Law Journal
MILWAUKEE (Oct. 22, 2013) ─ Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is proud to announce that attorney John McDonald is a 2013 recipient of the Wisconsin Law Journal’s Up and Coming Lawyer award.
The Up and Coming Lawyer awards honor the rising stars of law in Wisconsin who represent determination in legal work, community betterment and improvement at their own law firms.
McDonald and the 25 other Up and Coming Lawyer honorees were recognized at a celebratory reception at The Garage at the Harley-Davidson Museum.
McDonald is member of Godfrey & Kahn’s Corporate Practice Group and co-chair of the Emerging Companies Practice Group. He counsels clients on all stages of a business, from formation, financing and capitalization to exit strategies. A significant portion of McDonald’s practice is in the area of mergers, acquisitions and other business combinations, including structuring, negotiating and financing acquisitions and dispositions of companies of all sizes. In his emerging company work, McDonald regularly advises early stage companies and venture capital funds in connection with both capital and debt financings.
In addition, he serves as outside counsel to a variety of companies in relation to corporate governance matters and general corporate matters, including drafting and negotiating consulting, distribution, employment, incentive compensation, license, operating, shareholder and supply arrangements.
McDonald received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Hope College in Holland, Mich. and earned his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University National Law Center in Washington, D.C.
