Newly reinstated program will support workforce training and affordable transportation

MILWAUKEE (March 27, 2013) – Esperanza Unida, Inc., a non-profit workforce development organization located on Milwaukee’s south side, is pleased to announce the reinstatement of its popular car donation program. Used automobiles can now be donated to Esperanza Unida’s workforce development training programs as tax-deductible gifts.

“Esperanza Unida has a long history of using tax-deductible vehicle donations to support vital workforce development programs,” stated Manny Perez, newly hired General Manager and Advisor. “We are pleased to be able to offer this unique tax-deductible donation opportunity that will support skills development and affordable transportation to empower individuals achieve self sufficiency.”

Esperanza Unida trains mechanics to make repairs before selling the cars at a discounted price to individuals in need of transportation for their employment. The repairs are conducted by individuals learning basic auto mechanic skills under the supervision of a certified instructor. The car donation program not only provides affordable means of transportation for individuals in the Milwaukee community, but also teaches workers a new skill they may be able to expand into a career.

The resumption of the program was made possible because the IRS recentlyreinstated the organization to 501(c)3 status, which means that all individual contributions are tax exempt. The reinstatement is retroactive to April 3, 2012. Used car donations are now deductible under section 170 of the IRS Code.
