– Dog Daycare and Spa Franchise Hosting Grand Opening Celebration on May 11-

MADISON, Wis., (April 24, 2013) – Dogtopia, a leading national dog daycare and spa franchise, announced today the grand opening of its newest location in Madison, Wis., located at 3231 Laura Lane in Middleton. With services ranging from open-play dog daycare and overnight boarding to spa services, Dogtopia now offers the Madison community a unique place to take their pets to be cared for and pampered. Dogtopia of Madison West is the company’s first location in Wisconsin and is owned by husband and wife team Betsy and Jeff Jaeckle.

A grand opening celebration will take place on Saturday, May 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy a tour of the facility, food and fun with Magic 98, “Ask the Trainer” and “Learn a New Trick” sessions with dog trainer Giene Keyes of Dog Face, and complimentary pet portrait photography mini-sessions by Maija Le Photography. In addition, local area dog rescues will be on hand to discuss adopting a rescue dog in need of a loving family. Sign up for an evaluation during the celebration and receive a free Dogtopia gift.

“Jeff and I feel fortunate to have found a business opportunity that combines our love for dogs with a proven franchise model, ” said Betsy Anders Jaeckle, Dogtopia of Madison West owner. “We are looking forward to providing a home away from home for the precious dogs in our community and introducing Madison’s pet families to Dogtopia’s ‘live. love. play.’ philosophy.”

First-time franchisees, Betsy and Jeff Jaeckle learned about Dogtopia after searching for a suitable dog daycare facility for their own two pups, Butter and Puddy. When they noticed a lack of services in their hometown, they began looking into potential franchising opportunities with Dogtopia and decided to bring the concept to Madison. The couple plans to open a second location within a couple of years.

“Betsy and Jeff’s enthusiasm for what they do makes them a natural fit to join the Dogtopia family,” said Amy Nichols, chief executive officer of Dogtopia. “As we continue to expand our brand of professional pet care into new markets like Wisconsin, we are seeking entrepreneurs like Betsy and Jeff who not only have a passion for dogs but are also focused on owning and managing a rapidly growing business.”

Since Dogtopia launched in 2002, it has grown to 23 franchise and four company-owned locations nationwide, as well as six locations currently in development. Dogtopia’s design mirrors that of a chic, upscale spa. Laid out in a similar manner as a children’s daycare facility, Dogtopia has multiple playrooms to suit every dog’s personality and size. In addition to daycare and boarding, Dogtopia also offers a spa, self-service dog wash, and a boutique to pamper dogs of all shapes and sizes.

The division of dogs between rooms allows Dogtopia personnel to control air quality, prevent accidents, and provide an overall stress-free atmosphere. Generally, 25-30 dogs play in each room, and Dogtopia employs web camera technology in each room that allows the dogs’ owners to check on their pets during playtime. Providing additional peace of mind, the entire Dogtopia of Madison West team is trained on dog behavior and proper canine health and safety standards such as CPR and first aid.
