At Cortec® Coated Products (CCP), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA, we are continually improving and expanding our facilities, equipment, and processes to meet our customers’ needs and expectations. To meet the demand for larger paper widths and to increase production capacity Cortec® recently invested $750,000 in CCP’s equipment to be able to coat, print, and convert from 100″ (2.5m) wide, 70″ (1.8m) rolls with speeds of 1,500′ (500m) per minute. The unwind dancer will greatly increase web control during acceleration and deceleration, and with an added drum suction roll we will be able to further control and maintain the web for coating application and stability. Also, with the addition of the 2 roll chilled system, following the steam foil; we will be able to set the steam for precise curl control of coated webs.

With this expansion, CCP will be able to take full advantage of their machines’ advanced capabilities. An important consideration in any effort to expand production facilities is that efficiency depends on all elements in the manufacturing process to work together effectively. These new tools enabled the equipment to perform at full potential, significantly reducing cycle time and throughput while maintaining the high quality on which Cortec® has built its reputation.
