The Constellation combines urban living and marquee commercial tenants

MADISON, Wis. – East Madison’s first high-rise apartment project, The Constellation, opened its doors to residents August 1. The 12-story apartment building will redefine downtown living, with its fresh urban units, views of lakes and the Capitol, and attractive retail space. New, notable commercial tenants will be added to the mix in the months to come.
“This is the first development of many to truly transform the Capitol East District,” says Otto Gebhardt, owner of Gebhardt Development LLC. “And, significant commercial tenants are taking notice. We recently signed Google to lease nearly 9,000 square feet of space.”

At 12 stories, The Constellation will have 220 residential units above, 8,500 square feet of retail space on the ground level, 11,300 square feet of office space on the second floor and 11,700 square feet of office space on the third floor.

Residential and commercial space is nearing full occupancy. Notable tenants include: Google, with nearly 9,000 square feet; Star Bar, a high-end craft cocktail bar; Andersen Dental with 4,000 square feet of space; and, Cargo Coffee, owned by Madison businessman Lindsey Lee. “The Constellation is one of the most visible success stories for the revitalization of the Captiol East District,” said Steven Cover, Director of Planning and Community and Economic Development for the City of Madison. “There are catalysts to momentum for large-scale development projects such as these – and The Constellation will definitely have developers, brokers and residents sitting up and taking notice.”
