Cable Area Chamber of Commerce: 2013 International Paralympic Nordic Skiing World Cup coming to Telemark Resort

The first qualifier for the Sochi Games in 2014 will be the 2013 International Paralympic Nordic Skiing World Cup coming to Telemark Resort in Cable, Wisconsin this January 12-20th. The world’s top adaptive sports athletes will compete in several cross country and Biathlon races over the 8 day event. Participants will also earn points towards the 2013 World Championships being held in Solleftea, Sweden in March. The U.S Paralympic Ski Team will be named just after the first of the year but the team already includes several seasoned veterans like three time Paralympian Kelly Underklofer, Sean Halsted and the only American to ever win a Biathlon medal in Olympic or Paralympic history; Andy Soule. One athlete to watch this year is Dan Cnossen who is poised to be the first American to win medals in both Biathlon and cross country at the same Paralympic competition next year in Sochi, Russia. Dan will need a strong showing in the World Cup competition this year to be on pace to meet his goals for 2014. Competing on home soil should help bolster the entire American squad, who are hopeful for a strong showing on their part and a strong showing of support from their fans as well.
