Brookfield Village: First annual Village Extreme to be held June 22, 2013 in Brookfield Village

Family fest launched by merchants and sponsors of Brookfield Village, located in the City of Brookfield, Wis.

Brookfield, Wis. — The first annual Village Extreme is being held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in Brookfield Village, located in the City of Brookfield, Wis. The event, geared to family fun, will be held at McCoy Park, just west of Brookfield Road.

Street parking and Village parking lots will be available the day of the event, as well as parking north of the event at Brookfield Academy. There will be shuttle bus services to and from Brookfield Academy to the park.

The name, Village Extreme, and artwork for the event were determined by a contest where kids designed the logo for the event and named it. The winner was Kayleigh Crosby, from St. John Vianney in Brookfield.

Events for the day include Adventure Rock – rock-climbing wall; bounce house, fire truck slide, face painters, balloon artist; and the First Bank Financial Centre Entertainment Stage featuring performances from Brookfield Dance Academy, Mozart’s Gym, local children’s authors Erika and Richard Rutley; and Children’s Edu-Care, along with a live DJ.

A mascot obstacle course will be held with mascots Roscoe (Milwaukee Admirals), Scoopie (Culver’s), Subby (Cousin’s Subs), Maxx the Monkey (First Bank Financial Centre), Fire Dog (Brookfield Fire Department) competing in the event.

Food and beverage will be available from Cousins Subs, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Culinary Twist gourmet hot dogs and hot sandwiches, Ice Cream from Culver’s, and water, soda, and beer.

There will also be a Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest along Brookfield Road from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the day of Village Extreme. Participants must be 12 years old or older and register on Facebook at Brookfield Village Ltd or at Urban Upcycle Resale, 2863 N. Brookfield Road. Pastels can be purchased for $15 or bring your own. Children under 12 can join the fun in the Chalk Art Children’s Area, pre-registration is not required. Winners will be announced at Village Extreme in McCoy Park at 3:30 p.m.

Brookfield Village Ltd. is a nonprofit entity dedicated to promoting the Brookfield Village as a center of community activity in Brookfield, and a great place for specialty retail and service businesses. Brookfield Village Ltd. worked with local artist Gordon Gohr to create a distinctive logo for the Village. Future plans include an historic walking tour of the Village.

The Brookfield Village Ltd. group meets the first Wednesday of each month. All activities are based on volunteer time and efforts.
