Green Bay, WI – On March 9th 2013, the Bay Area Humane Society will hold its 15th annual dinner fundraiser, Bark of the Bay. This year’s event is presented by MetJet, who has showed continuous support of the Bay Area Humane Society.

In 2012, the event raised nearly $56,000 and proceeds from the event helped launch their ongoing Behavior Program. This year’s evening will include a special presentation on the Humane Society’s plan for launching their Special Care Fund, a program that pays for medical care for animals in need or severely injured.

The Special Care Fund has helped animals like Becky Jane, a 2 year old Terrier mix, who was simply trying to take care of her puppies and got hit in the face with a shovel, tearing off half of her rose. This happened because Becky Jane would eat out of nearby garbage can to feed her puppies. The owner of the garbage can was unhappy to see Becky Jane scrounge around for food in his yard, so he hit her in the face to try and scare her away. Because of the Special Care Fund, Becky Jane was able to receive the care needed for her to live a happy and normal life. Becky Jane has since been adopted.

Both people and pets can enjoy the fun filled event, as a limited number of dogs will be rsvp’d for a night of pampering and fun in “S’more’s Spectacular Spa”. The canine companions of Bark of the Bay guests get to enjoy a night of light grooming, gourmet treats, fun activities, and more.

The events live auction will be presented by WBAY’s, George Graphos and Cami Rapson. A special thank you to our generous sponsors: MetJet, DeLeers Construction, Larry and Kathy Treankler and WBAY-TV.

Tickets to this year’s event are available online at http://www.bayareahumanesociety.com or at the main shelter.
