Local Wireless Network Upgrade Extends Access to Advanced Products, Services and Applications

MADISON, WIS. — AT&T* today announced the availability of its mobile Internet network in Cross Plains extending access for advanced mobile services, devices and applications to customers. The cell site is located on Bourbon Road in Cross Plains.

“Investment in better wireless access in rural areas is important to businesses and it’s important to families,” said State Representative Dianne Hesselbein. “I am thrilled that AT&T is now offering this important service to my constituents in the Cross Plains area. The way we communicate is changing, so we must do all we can to encourage even more investment in new technology in order to be successful in a global economy.”

AT&T is an industry leader in delivering the benefits of the mobile Internet, offering powerful and flexible connectivity, a wide range of smartphone and other device options, and simultaneous voice and data capabilities for an amazing wireless voice and Internet experience.

“By investing nearly $140 million in our Wisconsin wireless and wireline networks in the first half of 2013, we are making significant progress toward making our state a more connected place to live, work and raise a family. This enhancement in Cross Plains is just the latest example of our commitment to developing an advanced communications infrastructure here,” said AT&T Wisconsin President Scott T. VanderSanden

AT&T operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network** including more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers, and provides access to more than 402,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans.

AT&T also is a leading developer of Distributed Antenna Systems, which utilize multiple small antennas to maximize coverage and speed within stadiums, convention centers, office buildings, hotels and other areas where traditional coverage methods are challenging.

Over the past five years, AT&T invested nearly $98 billion into operations. Since 2008, AT&T invested more capital into the U.S. economy than any other public company. In a July 2012 report, the Progressive Policy Institute ranked AT&T No. 1 on its list of U.S. “Investment Heroes.”
