MADISON, Wis. – Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care today announced that it has hired Tom Lawless as director of finance. Agrace is a local, nonprofit health care agency that has provided end-of-life care and related services to people in southern Wisconsin communities for 35 years.

Lawless joins Agrace from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, where he was a director in the Division of Long Term Care’s Bureau of Financial Management. There he was responsible for finances of all Medicaid long-term care programs within the State of Wisconsin. He was also the architect of an innovative program model improving the care and financing outcomes for persons dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid services.

“Tom’s background in the financial management of Wisconsin’s Medicare and Medicaid long-term care programs will be a real asset to Agrace” said Joyce Zeasman, vice president of finance for Agrace. “With our focus on quality, Tom’s leadership in examining the cost-effectiveness of Wisconsin’s long-term care programs will be very helpful to us in the current, health care environment, where improving quality while controlling costs is so vital.”

Lawless holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago, and has served as a faculty member for the Center for Health Care Strategies, Inc. in the Managed Long-Term Supports and Services Purchasing Institute. He is a resident of Verona.
