ZEBRADOG: Madison’s ZEBRADOG media-wall exhibits earn global Best of Show award for Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery

Two interactive media-wall exhibits created by Madison, Wisconsin-based ZEBRADOG Dynamic Environment Design earned the Best of Show award for the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery in an international competition. ZEBRADOG’S sophisticated digital designs were selected Best of Show among 88 entrants from 18 countries.

In addition, the exhibits earned gold in the Education & Healthcare Division of the Apex Awards, sponsored by the international Digital Signage Federation.The exhibits, located in the Town Center at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery on the University of Wisconsin, campus are open to the public. They use state of the art technology to identify people moving in front of the installations. Anyone visiting the Town Center can navigate through dynamic information related to the ground-breaking science exploration underway in the laboratories above. One media wall is 23 feet long and 2 feet tall and the other is 13 feet wide and 4 feet tall.

The installation marks the first time infrared lasers, motion cameras and radio frequency identification have been used in any single exhibit anywhere, according to Mark Schmitz, President and Creative Director of ZEBRADOG. The event is sponsored by the Global Digital Expo in Las Vegas where Schmitz accepted the award on behalf of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. It is the world’s largest international conference and trade show dedicated to interactive digital technology.

Schmitz said the public is encouraged to interact with the digital exhibits at the Town Center, on the ground level of the Wisconsin Institutes of Discovery, 1300 University Avenue in Madison.
