Wisconsin State Golf Association: Announces 2012 tournament schedule

The Wisconsin State Golf Association has released its 2012 tournament schedule, which can be found at WSGA.org . The schedule features 14 state championships, 8 USGA qualifying events, an expanded Net Partners Series, and an expanded Senior Tour. The WSGA will accept entries beginning on February 15, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. Online registration is available at WSGA.org .

Highlighting the 2012 championship season is the 111th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship sponsored by CliftonLarsonAllen which will be held July 16-19, 2012, at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, WI. The Championship will feature 180 of the state’s top amateur golfers competing for the coveted title of State Amateur Champion.

June 18-21 – Hidden Glen Golf Club (Cedarburg)

July 9-12 – Reedsburg Country Club (Reedsburg)

Senior Bestball (Four-Ball) Championship
July 30-31 – North Hills Country Club (Menomonee Falls)

August 6-8 – River Club of Mequon (Mequon)

Pater-Filius (Father-Son) Championship
August 14 – The Golf Courses of Lawsonia – Links and Woodlands Courses (Green Lake)

State Net Amateur Championship
August 20-21 – Castle Course at Northern Bay (Arkdale)

Senior Amateur Championship
August 27-28 – The Legend at Bristlecone (Hartland)

September 10-11 – Meadowbrook Country Club (Racine)

Net Partners Championship sponsored by GolfTEC
September 14 – Thornberry Creek at Oneida – Championship Course (Oneida)

2-Man Team Championship
September 16-17 – Maple Bluff Country Club (Madison)

Senior Tour Championship
September 27 – Wild Rock Golf Club (Wisconsin Dells)

Players have the opportunity to qualify for the State Match Play Championship sponsored by TaylorMade and State Amateur Championship sponsored by CliftonLarsonAllen through district qualifying events in advance of each championship. State Match Play qualifying will take place at 5 sites between May 18 and June 6. State Amateur qualifying will take place at 9 sites between June 25 and July 3. New for 2012, a fifth qualifying event on June 6 at Washington County GC has been added to allow high school players the chance to qualify following their high school season. This qualifier is limited to players who are age 18 or younger AND are members of a spring 2012 WIAA high school golf team, and therefore, unable to compete in any of the other four Match Play qualifying events due to WIAA rules.

Top amateurs will once again have the opportunity to play in Wisconsin Players Series events sponsored by the Wisconsin State Golf Association and Wisconsin PGA. The 2012 events will be held at Brown Deer Park Golf Course, Cherokee Country Club, and Trappers Turn Golf Club.

Both the popular Net Partner Series and Senior Tour have been expanded. Players become eligible to compete in the Net Partners Championship with a top finish in one of 10 Net Partners Tournaments throughout the season. The Senior Tour features 18 events at 12 sites and the top finishers are eligible to compete in the Senior Tour Championship.
