Antigo, WI — October 1, 2012 — The Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) has launched the first in a series of six videos featuring Wisconsin native, and three-time Olympian, Suzy Favor Hamilton cooking some of her favorite Wisconsin potato recipes. In the videos, Suzy — the Wisconsin Potatoes Spokesperson — covers a variety of topics of interest to consumers — from the best way to prepare potatoes and recipe shortcuts, to health and nutrition information.

A native of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Favor Hamilton won eleven state titles in high school, is the winningest female collegiate athlete at the University of Wisconsin, won nine NCAA championships and was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Decade in the 90s. She also won seven U.S. National Championships. Today, she lives in Madison, Wisconsin with her family. She travels the nation as a motivational speaker helping people adopt healthier lifestyles and these videos resonate with that message. “Potatoes are a great source of nutrition,” she notes. “They’re low in calories, yet great for replenishing your energy. They’re also gluten free, so they can be an important source of nutrition for those with celiac disease.” She adds, “We’ve all read the latest research — that by the year 2030, over half of Americans could be obese. It’s important that we provide families with inexpensive, easy-to-make recipes that help us reverse that trend. These videos provide healthy recipes and great nutritional information.”

The video features include:

· Fingerling Mediterranean Savory Potato Salad

· Turkey Potato Dinner Wraps

· Healthy Potato Salad

· Potato Nutrition

· How to Pick Your Potato

· Behind-the-Scenes with Suzy

Each of the videos will be launched over the next six months to coincide with seasonal events. The videos will be launched at www.eatwisconsinpotatoes.com; they will also be featured on the Eat Wisconsin Potatoes Facebook page and the Wisconsin Potatoes YouTube channel.
