Consumers Can Submit a Recipe or Vote for their Favorite to Win

Antigo, WI — April 26, 2012 — The Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) will launch its latest consumer recipe contest on Facebook. The Gather-Around-the-Campfire Wisconsin Potatoes Recipe Contest provides consumers with two ways to win four great prizes – by submitting a recipe or voting for their favorite.

“We’ve seen a definitive rise in interaction with our Wisconsin potato Facebook fans,” notes Tim Feit, WPVGA Director of Promotion and Consumer Education. “Our fans are sharing their potato recipe photos and commenting on recipe entries — they want to do more than submit recipes. They want a vote and they want to be able to share their entries. Going forward, we’re going to use a Facebook application that allows fans to submit recipes and vote for their favorites.”

The Gather-Around-the-Campfire Wisconsin Potato Recipe Contest is collecting easy-to-make Wisconsin potato camping recipes that people can prepare in advance or at the campground. “Basically, we want hot or cold recipes that make sense for camping — recipes that allow people to enjoy the great outdoors rather than laboring over a meal when they’re away for the weekend,” notes Feit.

* The Campfire Champ will receive a 10’ x 10’ Guide Series Combo Canopy.

* The Second place winner will win a Gander Mountain Zero Gravity Deluxe XL Lounger.

* The Third place winner will receive a Grand Trunk Single Parachute Nylon Travel Hammock.

Consumers can also win by voting for their favorite recipe on the Eat Wisconsin Potatoes Facebook page. One randomly drawn Gather-Around-the-Campfire Wisconsin Potato Recipe Contest voter will win a $150 gift card to their favorite grocery store.

Sponsored by the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association, the Gather-Around-the-Campfire Wisconsin Potatoes Recipe Contest begins April 23, 2012. Deadline for recipe submission is May 6, 2012. Voting will take place form May 7 – May 21, 2012 and winners will be announced May 24, 2012. To enter, consumers simply visit the WPVGA Eat Wisconsin Potatoes Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/EatWisconsinPotatoes.
