WisBusiness: The Show – Wis. Economic Development Corp. interim CEO Reed Hall
Welcome to a new episode of “WisBusiness: The Show,” a twice-a-month Web show covering state business news and issues.
On this episode, Reed Hall, the interim head of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., says he’s confident the organization is headed in a good direction.
“The organization has very good staff dedicated to their mission,” Hall said.
Hall acknowledged some “growing pains” with the transition from the Department of Commerce over to the WEDC, but, he added, “I’m convinced that it’s on track and that it’ll be solved very soon.”
For now, he said, “we’re doing an inventory of what the issues are confronting us and then we’ll put a plan of action together.”
He said the inventory was already underway, having started a couple weeks ago.
Hall, a Wisconsin native and UW-Madison graduate, started at Marshfield Clinic in 1976 as the clinic’s first general counsel. In 2000 he became executive director of the clinic before retiring in 2010.
He said he took the WEDC position in part because “when the governor calls, it’s very hard to say no.”
And, he added, “[it] gives me an opportunity to provide some public service to the state that has meant so very much to me.”
Also on the show, Tom Still talks about the growing number of new business establishments in Wisconsin and the WisBusiness.com Stock Report covers Exact Sciences and Allstate Insurance.
The show is produced by Tweedee Productions of Madison and sponsored by GrantThornton, Madison Gas & Electric, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. and UW-Milwaukee.
