Milwaukee — The law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. is pleased to announce that Andrew J. Schlidt has been named co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group, and Gary R. Plotecher has been named chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. 

Schlidt is a shareholder in the firm’s Milwaukee office, where he leads the Technology Team, and joins Joseph A. Pickart as co-chair of the Corporate Practice Group. He is a corporate attorney with broad experience in commercial transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance matters. Schlidt has served on the firm’s Board of Directors and leverages the firm’s 150+ legal professionals to achieve the business and strategic objectives of clients. In his corporate practice, Schlidt serves as “general counsel” for privately owned companies. He counsels clients on matters such as creation of business entities, business growth, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, formation of distributor and sales channels, outsourcing, procurement, general commercial transactions, joint ventures, private equity investments, intellectual property protection, litigation oversight and other strategic matters. In addition to representing private companies, Schlidt has worked with in-house counsel for numerous publicly traded companies. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with the Chicago office of Accenture. He received his J.D. from Marquette University Law School, his Master’s of Industrial Technology, with honors, from Purdue University, and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the Science & Technology Section of the American Bar Association and the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is a recipient of the Notre Dame Club of Milwaukee Service Award and, the Milwaukee County War Memorial Service Award. Schlidt was named a Wisconsin “Rising Star” attorney in 2006 and 2007, and is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell®.

Plotecher is a shareholder in the firm’s Milwaukee office. Prior to joining the firm in 1991, he practiced for more than 15 years as an in-house corporate counsel, first with a leading international chemical company and then with a leading international oil company with extensive mining interests. His practice currently includes all phases of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret acquisition, licensing and enforcement, both domestically and internationally. His technical areas of practice are the chemical, biological, metallurgical and mechanical arts. He received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, his MBA from Western Michigan University, and his B.S. from Western Michigan University. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and has been admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and State Bar of Ohio.
